The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, Department of Agriculture was established in the year 2009 with the main focus on sphere-heading agricultural activities in the Municipality. Ghana Ministry of Food and Agriculture is the government agency responsible for the development and growth of agriculture in the country.
Ashaiman Municipal has four zonal councils and twenty five operational areas, these zones and operational areas are:

Municipal Director of Agriculture (MDA)
Dr. Nunya is the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Ashaiman Municipal. He holds MPhil in Agriculture Administration, University of Ghana-Legon and Maters in Public Policy , Yonsei University-South Korea. Dr. Nunya also holds PhD in Public Administration, Yonsei University-South Korea. He is Agriculturist, Public Administrator and Policy Analyst with over thirty (30) years of experience in Planning and Implementation of Development Projects and Programs which entails empowerment approaches to poverty reduction and correspondingly partnering the public sector for development programs. He has much knowledge in Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Gender roles.
Dr. John Nunya has worked in the Agricultural sector for decades. He began his career since 1987. He has worked in various cities and towns such as Bolibanboi, Dodowa, Adenta, Sege, Nsawam, Akim Oda, and Ashaiman.
Dr. Nunya has also lectured in Yonsei University, South Korea and he has many years of research experience and has couple of publications. Most of these publications pertains to land issues in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
Management Information System Officer(MISO)
He holds MPhil and Bsc. in Agribusiness from University of Ghana-Legon. Mitchris research interest includes Agriculture Information Delivery, Agriculture Technology Adoption, Community Development, and Project Analysis. He has Extensive Research Field Experience and has worked with several small holder farmers. He has worked as a National Consultant for several International Organizations such as Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the UN, ACDI/VOCA, African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET). Mitchris has also worked as a Field Research Officer in a short term basis for International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) and the Institute of Statistical, Social, and Economic Research (ISSER). He was a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Ghana, Legon for the 2007/2008 academic year; he is a member of the African Association of Agricultural Economist. Mr. Mitchris Chapman Kodam is currently the Management Information System Officer (MISO) for Ashaiman Municipal, Department of Food and Agriculture
Municipal Livestock Officer (MLO)
Miss Cynthia Edem Opoku is currently the Livestock Officer in the Department of Agriculture, Ashaiman Municipal Assembly. She holds BSc. Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi-Ghana. Miss Cynthia has diverse research experience in livestock. She was part of the team who were selected for training on Hygiene and Quality Management in Animal Source Foods in Japan.
Miss Cynthia has been in the Agriculture sector for couple of years. She was the Assistant Agriculture Officer-Tema Municipal Assembly, and Greater Accra Region as Administrative Assistance.
Dr. Naomi graduated from Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine- Japan with Diploma In Domestic Animal Infection. She therefore continued her Post graduate in Aquatic Animal Health Management at Norwegian Veterinary Institute-Norway. Naomi holds Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. She has vast and many years of experince in Retrospective Study on Rabies and Dog Bites.
She has worked in various institutions and private clinics such as East Legon Veterinary, Spintex Animal Clinic, Tema Animal Hospital ,Cocoa Beach Road Pharmacy , Veterinary Services Directorate-Clinic- Accra, Veterinary Services Directorate-Laboratory- Accra.
Dr. Naomi also has many years of research and training experience in domestic animal infection, Epidemiology and prevention of parasitic diseases of animals in Africa, aquatic animal health management, diagnosis of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) under high bio-safety conditions, Use of nuclear related assays (ELISA techniques and principles) for the specific diagnosis of trans-boundry animal diseases, and Sampling procedures and diagnosis techniques of priority poultry diseases, eg. : highly pathogenic Avian Influenza, Newcastle disease and Infectious Bursal Disease.
Municipal Crop Officer
Miss Esther Afrifa is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with Bsc. Agriculture. She is the Municipal Crop Officer for Ashaiman Municipal. Esther has diverse research experience, especially on the Efficacy of Aqueous Solution on Garlic and Ginger. Miss Esther has worked with Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority Department of Procurement, Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly as an AEA/Market Enumerator. She is currently the Municipal Crop Officer for Ashaiman Municipal.
